hi bloggers.....
Cognizant today indicated that it could add another 25,000 to its existing Indian headcount in the 2011 calendar year in keeping with the trend in the previous year.
“We are looking to hire as good as last year,” R. Chandrasekaran, president and managing director (global delivery) at Cognizant, said at the inauguration of the company’s Bantala facility.
In 2010, Cognizant added around 25,000 associates in India. It has over one lakh professionals working globally.
Meanwhile, the technology and consulting services provider will look at “a lot of investments in newer markets” to further globalise its business.
“While Europe has been growing faster than the company average, Cognizant’s new focus would be on markets in West Asia, Asean countries, Australia and Japan,” Chandrasekaran said.
At present, North America contributes 77.7 per cent to Cognizant’s revenue, while Europe has a share of 18.9 per cent. The rest of the world contributes 3.4 per cent.

hi blogers.....

US President Barack Obama today asked American business leaders to aggressively pursue the huge middle class in India and China to increase their export, thus create hundreds and thousands of jobs in the country.
"The truth is, as countries like China and India grow and develop larger middle classes, it's profitable for global companies to aggressively pursue these markets and, at times, to set up facilities in these countries," Obama said in his address to the US Chamber of Commerce .
Obama said with the march of technology over the last few decades, the competition for jobs and businesses has grown fierce."The globalisation of our economy means that businesses can now open up shop, employ workers and produce their goods wherever there is internet connection," he said. The United States needs an economy that's based not on what it consume and borrow from other nations, but what Americans make and sell around the world.                  "We need to make America the best place on earth to do business," he noted."As a government, we will help lay the foundation for you to grow and innovate. We will upgrade our transportation and communications networks so you can move goods and information more quickly and cheaply."We will invest in education so that you can hire the most skilled, talented workers in the world. And we'll knock down barriers that make it harder for you to compete, from the tax code to the regulatory system," he said.

At the same time, Obama reminded the American corporate leadership of their corporate and social responsibilities."But as we work with you to make America a better place to do business, ask yourselves what you can do for America. Ask yourselves what you can do to hire American workers, to support the American economy, and to invest in this nation.
"I'll go anywhere to be a booster for American businesses, American workers, and American products. We recently signed export deals with India and China that will support more than 250,000 jobs here in the United States," he said.                  "We finalised a trade agreement with South Korea that will support at least 70,000 American jobs - a deal that has unprecedented support from business and labor; Democrats and Republicans. That's the kind of deal I'll be looking for as we pursue trade agreements with Panama and Columbia and work to bring Russia into the international trading system," Obama said.

hi bloggers.....
At a time when the world is grappling with energy crisis and large-scale carbon emission, two students of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) have designed a software which helps computer users to adopt power management and save unnecessary wastage of electricity.                Designed by Om Prakash H and Srikanth R, BillionWatt Power Manager helps users to automatically put their computers and laptops on either sleep or hibernation mode, when not in use. A good amount of energy could be saved and data of computer users remains safe. Moreover, large amount of carbon dioxide emission could be also prevented. The duo has also created a website, http://www.billionwatt.com, where the free-of-cost software is available.
The IIMB students took about six months to come up with the software. “Call it our ignorance or laziness, most often, we don’t switch off our computers as we go out for our tea, coffee, snacks or lunch breaks. Moreover, it has been observed that many employees go home from office without shutting down their systems. Keeping these things in mind, we have designed the software to prevent wastage of electricity,” said Prakash, a second year student of post-graduate programme (PGP) in management.
“The software has the ability to automatically reduce power consumption of the system, based on the software settings and also highlight the amount of savings in power and reduction in carbon emissions the user has managed to achieve since the software was installed,” said Srikanth, also a second year PGP student at IIMB.
